Before you publish

  • List every service that sends with your domain in the return path: mailbox provider, email platform, CRM, helpdesk, your own servers.
  • Publish one TXT record on the domain itself and remove any older v=spf1 record.
  • Check the published record with the SPF checker: it counts the includes of your includes, which a generator cannot see.

Questions people ask

Where do I publish the SPF record?
As a TXT record on the domain itself (the host is @ or blank in most DNS panels). Replace any existing v=spf1 record rather than adding a second one.
What goes in my SPF record?
Every service that sends mail with your domain in the return path: your mailbox provider, your email platform, your CRM or helpdesk, and any server you run. Each provider's setup guide gives its include.
Why does the generator warn about includes?
Each include can contain includes of its own, and receivers count all of them against the limit of 10 DNS lookups. Check the published record with the SPF checker to count the whole tree.
