- DMARC at p=quarantine or p=reject, pct=100, on the domain and its organizational domain.
- Your logo as an SVG Tiny PS file on an HTTPS URL.
- A TXT record at default._bimi.<domain>: v=BIMI1; l=<logo URL>; a=<certificate URL>.
- For Gmail, a Verified Mark Certificate or Common Mark Certificate; for Apple Mail, a Verified Mark Certificate.
Questions people ask
- What does BIMI need before a logo shows?
- A BIMI TXT record at default._bimi.<domain> pointing at an SVG Tiny PS logo over HTTPS, and DMARC at enforcement (p=quarantine or p=reject at pct=100) for the domain and its organizational domain. Gmail also needs a Verified Mark Certificate or Common Mark Certificate, and Apple Mail a Verified Mark Certificate.
- Does BIMI improve deliverability?
- Not by itself: it displays a logo on mail that already passes DMARC. The work it requires, getting DMARC to enforcement, is what protects deliverability.
- Can I use BIMI without a certificate?
- Yes, with providers that do not require one, such as Yahoo. Gmail and Apple Mail show the logo only with a mark certificate.
