# Markdown instead of JSON:
curl -H "Accept: text/markdown" "https://sendly.now/api/tools/email-signature-generator?name=Ada%20Lovelace"Keeping a signature readable
- Name, role and one or two ways to reach you; leave the rest to your website.
- Text, not an image of text, so it arrives intact when images are blocked.
- Links that say where they go: an email address, a phone number, a website.
Questions people ask
- How do I add the signature to Gmail?
- Open the preview on this page, select the signature and copy it, then paste it into Settings, See all settings, General, Signature. Pasting the rendered signature keeps its formatting; pasting the HTML code shows the tags.
- Why a table and inline styles?
- Outlook on Windows draws email with Word, which ignores most CSS that is not in a style attribute and lays out tables more reliably than anything else. A table with inline styles looks the same in Outlook, Gmail and Apple Mail.
- Why is there no logo or photo?
- An image in a signature has to be hosted somewhere and is blocked by many clients until the reader allows images, so the signature looks broken by default. A text signature always arrives intact.
